The Kindle 2.0

Deep question of the day:

So...the Kindle 2.0...whaddya think?

I know. A bit behind the news curve, but I've been watching these e-readers for years now, and I wonder if this one might actually become affordable enough to try out. Plus the newer features:

Thinner. Longer battery life. More memory and processing speed. Improved display and interface.

If you have one already, do speak up.

I see that smile.

E-readers are just not for me, thanks. They take more power than a book. They cost way more. They can break. You can't share e-books with your friends without sharing the reader. You can't trade used e-books for other used e-books. They don't support illustrations (yet). Electronic files degrade. The technology will change, and in five years you won't be able to read any of your old e-books on the new wave of readers.

But all of my print books will still be readable, some of them for hundreds of years.

Funny thing is... I couldn't concentrate on the Kindle for staring at the spines of all those delicious books behind it, and salivating madly.

All respect to people who E-read, more power to you and God bless. But nothing will ever replace having a printed book in my hand. I'll always be the one with back strain from lugging those things in some kind of tote. :)
